Check the Power
Supply; make sure the voltage selector is set on 110 volts. (If the
system was run at 220 no damage was done, the system was underpowered.) |

Check to make
sure the motherboard is properly supported by the metal or plastic
standoffs, not screwed directly to the case’s back plate. Check
that no standoffs are under the motherboard where a screw hole does
not line up. |

many sticks of 400mhz DDR can I use with my new KT400 chipset motherboard? |

require a 1.5 volt 4X AGP video card. |

The CD Rom drive
needs to be as fast as or faster than the Burner. The CD Rom drive
should be slave on the primary IDE and the Burner should be master
on the secondary IDE. |

do my speakers plug in? |

If you have on-board
sound the speakers plug into to top green jack; If you have a sound
blaster live or audigy plug the speakers into the 2nd jack from the
left. |

do I know how to set the bios? |

In most cases
the motherboard manufacturer knows best, they include an option for
loading best performance defaults, the only other things to change
would be the boot sequence and the CPU front side bus. |

do I boot to my cdrom? |

A: |
In the bios there
are boot options (normally under advanced cmos settings) set first
boot device to floppy, second to cdrom, third to IDE-0. |

AMD CPU is not displaying or running at the correct speed. |

A: |
Most
motherboards default at 100 MHz FSB for duron or older athlon CPU’s.
If running an Athlon XP CPU you will need to change the FSB to 133
MHz - this is done in the bios or by jumpers on the motherboard. |
